Does this seem fair?

This would probably qualify under Meleia's TMI post or maybe under her "wacky things that happen to me" post. Meleia have you been sending brainwaves my way or what?

Anyway, I don't like to go get those annual physicals that we(women) all have to get...not fun...I know it's not fun for anybody but I really dread them. Honestly, I went the year after Jay was born(he's four) and then I missed my next one. Something came up. I don't really remember what, but I never rescheduled and haven't been since. Bad girl. I know. My mom's been yelling at me. Well, I finally decided that I better make an appt. and I went in last week for the grandiose pap smear. Today, Dr. Harbin's office calls me. The lady on the phone said, " I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Well, you came in last week for a pap smear." I'm thinking...ohmygosh...it came back bad. I'm dying, cervical cancer, etc. etc. (Yes, I turned into my glass half empty husband). She then goes on to tell me that they sent the swab to the lab and the truck carrying the samples crashed AND BURNED. Yes, I have to go back in next week. Is this some type of punishment for not going in for three years? I still have to pay my dues and be humiliated the same number of times. I almost said "Forget it!" BUT I had a moment of weakness and laughed. The whole darn thing is kinda funny. She transferred me to the front desk and I rescheduled. They tried to make me feel better by telling me I didn't have to give them a urine specimen or anything. I only had to be swabbed. THAT'S SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER! The worst part of the whole ordeal and I have to do that part twice in two weeks. Ya' know, I really should be immune to this after four babies. I mean the janitor comes in at the hospital and checks you in the middle of the night, right? Well, I'm not immune and I still hate it. Meleia, give me insight here!!!

I'm sorry to laugh.....but that's just funny....

Don't you just hate those nasty appointments???? The things women have to do.

Sandy always make this joke...when you go in...and the doctor says...slide down when he is getting ready to do the exam...Sandy says....tell him...I'm paying you...you come up here!!!

Hope it goes better next time and the truck doesn't burn....

LOL!, That sounds like something out right out of a crazy movie! It is time for me to make that dreaded appt. again, and I just can't seem to make it to the phone. I think I would rather have my eye lashes plucked out one by one.

Not TMI, more like SOL.

This would have been my end of that conversation:

Me: Wow. *disbelief type nod.* Dude. Seriously? Awww, Man. Shoot. *Starting to cross legs at ankles while standing.*

Pause.

Me: How was the driver?

Stupid thought, but at 32 would have held this one in: Was that considered a HazMat spill?

May have said this: I know this question is a little "fourth quarter"...but, could they DNA the swabs and at least try to get a reading?

You should at least get a "Get Out Free Card" this time. Are you sure it wasn't Letterman punking you?

At my last illustrious appointment, the nurse practioner actually said, "ready....aim, fire." Seriously.

OK, so I don't feel that sorry for you. I too, had to do a repeat this year, but it was not because the truck "crashed & burned".....No, it was because there were "abnormal cells". So, I had to worry about the fate of my cervix for 3 months before I got to go back and be....um......well, examined. I'm thinking, 2 in less than 6 months....I should SO get out of it next year right? By the way, I'm only 31 and have had the pleasure of getting 2, count them, 2 mammograms already.....another pleasant and lovely experience that ranks right up there with gouging your eyeballs out.

Oh, the joys of womanhood!!

OK, OK, Terri (and ladies),

You have made me laugh out loud this morning!! Hilarious! Not that I am glad that you have to go back and do this again, but LOL that the truck crashed and burned!! Seriously, that doesn't happen in real life, unless your name is Meleia, Terri, or Cyndi!! Hilarious!!

The other thing I noticed is that the nurse COULD HAVE at least started her sentence off MUCH BETTER than... 'I hate to be the bearer of bad news...' Seriously!! She is a nurse, for goodness sakes!! She should know not to start a sentence like that unless it is REALLY BAD NEWS!! That news was just a FREAK of nature type news, not necessarily bad, by no means good, but not bad!! I hope she improved her delivery as she called people!!

Finally, all of the comments from the other ladies cracked me up!! I hate that you have to go back to see Dr. Harbin again, for a swab no less... but look at the bright side, she could have actually HAD BAD NEWS and Praise the Lord, she didn't!!!!!

We will pray that the next truck doesn't crash and burn!!! LOL!!

Love you girl,

Cyndi
